review 1: Okay, where to start.I stumbled across this book because I've been wanting to read a good paranormal/fantasy romance adult book. And boy, that I did! First of, this book is hilarious! The banter between Emma and Guy will make you laugh. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will be brief about my opinions. Our heroine, Emma, is a feisty young woman who is special. She is ale to communicate with our main hero, Guy/Votan, who is trapped somewhere, in a special way. Thus, this brings the comedy to the story and also other things. Therefore, Emma must save Guy and risk her life to do so. On her journey, she will uncover the truth about her nature and who Guy really is and how she and Guy are really connected with each other. The sex part are not too detailed, but will give you th... moree picture. Also, it may annoy you on how many interruptions there are when it comes to the lovemaking. However, towards the end it will be worth it.P.S. Both main characters are virgins!!! Love it!....There is always something special about first time.
review 2: Where to start? This is a hard review to leave, because I liked the story enough to buy the second book. But.... It was very frustrating at times. I am not a huge fan of books written in the first person and most of this book was written that way, some was not (which was the better). The heroine Emma was very annoying and did some really stupid things a lot of the time, She was so hot/cold, up/down, right/left, back and forth... I actually found my self yelling at her for being stupid and not thinking about what was going on around her rather than her stupid feelings. This guy has been in your head and saved you almost your whole life but you are going to question him and listen to others??? DUH!!!! of course you are! GRRRR..Other than the stupidity on her part sometimes it was a good story. There was a lot of dialogue (which I like), sexual chemistry (in between her hot and cold thoughts) and a nicely written sex scene towards the end. The story was good but would have been better without the writing in the first person and the stupidity.Like I said I did buy the second book and started it. Luckily its not written in the first person! So we are already at a better start. As for the narrator, she is okay, I have listened to worse, but she is far from the best. She does not do the men's voices very well, they sound to feminine for my liking.I have to give this one 3.5 stars because of the heroine's annoying frustrating feelings causing her to do dumb things. And the fact that it was mostly written in the first person, which I think is what caused the heroine to be stupid, we had to listen/read her thoughts and assumptions way too much!I am hoping the second book is better and we have a less annoying stupid heroine. less

This was a great and very funny at times story. Emma has a constant companion all her life, only she can hear him, he has been in her head since she remembered. She is out looking to a hot guy she can have a normal time with and try to get Guy out of her head, even for a little bit but no such luck. Until she steps in front of a moving cab in the streets of New York. For a month she been in a coma and when she wakes up Guy is there and sweet talking her into about getting him out of her head and into his body. Guy had been trapped in a cenote (sinkhole) for over 70 years. Emma finds the sinkhole that his body is in but she had been having bad luck through her journey through Mexico that would cost her life. Once she frees Guy she will find out what Guy (Voltan God of Death & War) is really like and she has to find ways to make her point to get what she wants but is deterred buy Guy buy his warriors that are there to protect her but there are always traitors around and they can be like a real friend.

Real rating 3.5 (but I rounded up since I am feeling generous today).I loved the mixture of seriousness, playfulness, and naivety. It is a tricky mix. On the down side, I did want to slap Guy on more than a few occasions for his stupidity, arrogance, and manipulation techniques. The man character, Emma, was a hoot, though occasionally annoying. She did need to grow up and did so. The character development for Emma made sense, while I felt like Guy didn't do much growth. For him it seemed like he already knew it and didn't want to admit it. That is were hi character fell flat for me. I guess if there had been more growth on his part I would have liked him more, but in the end he grew on me enough to make this HEA good for me.

Couldn't get past chapter 17. Just lost interest and felt like the story was really slow to develop.
