A Devil and Her Love Song
review 1: This series is becoming more and more angst ridden, and not in a good way. Just too much drama. Too much. I'm also not a fan of this new weird dynamic between Shin and Maria. Shin is aware of Maria's psychological turmoil, and he decides he can't wait any longer and forces her to confront it in an awful way. Maria's reaction is that somehow she is to blame for everything. And Yusuke's inexplicably dropped out of pursuing Maria romantically (he was the one I was cheering for, for starters, he's well, you know, normal as opposed to emo Shin with his father complex). It's all a big mess.Just, no. I've read reviews by reviewers that I esteem who said that this is the best volume to date and how great it is that Maria's finally addressing her mental issues. My response... more is that first, her issues are way over the top (drama drama drama) to begin with and second, this was not a good way to handle it. Ew.
review 2: Maria's fragile memories are surfacing and causing her to hallucinate. Shin is conflict in this volume about whether to tell her his feelings or to back off. He eventually makes decisions on that. But is Maria able to handle it? Kurosu doesn't think so, and is thwarting their attempts. I have to wonder if Shin can help calm down her panic attacks or not? It's all getting very tense as harsh memories are starting to sink in for Maria. less

This installment was over the top and seemed to bleed melodrama.
