review 1: man this volume pulled hard on my latent maria/yusuke feelingsi don't want them to date necessarily! but their relationship is one of my favourites? so much love and mirroring!that's part of what makes maria and shintaro work for me too actually. i feel like the story's been neglecting shin/maria lately, like my investment in her relationships with yusuke and shintaro comes from the narrative actually showing how their characters play off each other and drawing attention to their similaritiesi'm willing to ship shin/maria! i remember actively doing so in earlier volumes! but all the contrived obstacles means there hasn't been much of the character work i need to go all in for a pairingalso re: contrived obstacles AUGH that ending whyyyyyyyat least the eros short story afte... morerwards was cute u_u3.5 stars
review 2: Maria helps Kurosu join in with her circle of friends while at the beach. His playful flirting has made him become a bit of a thwart to Shin. Shin cares greatly for Maria but worries about bringing back her terrible childhood memories. With her becoming more relaxed in social interactions, he finally feels he can try for being honest to her. he goes about that by focusing his energy into an upcoming concert piece dedicated to her. Maria runs into some big trouble along the way, and now it seems Shin may be pushed back by the confusion of it. Yusuke may also find this to be of conflict for him as he seems uncertain about his conflicted feelings for Maria too due to these certain events. it leaves off very tense. I just wonder now how the boys will react to all this in the next volume less
