review 1: Loved this book right from the start. Not a big fan on Thrillers but this is a definite must for people wanting to try a different genre. The characters were brilliantly strong and the M. J. has done well to incorporate all their different stories together without making it confusing. I loved the fact there were so many twists and turns. I didn't expect what was coming next and was certainly surprised by what did happen. Brilliant ending and look forward to reading the next book as I have heard it is even better.
review 2: Not sure how I feel about this book. I picked it up off a holiday house shelf and read it in a day. Clever plot, neatly tied together throughout - it was the characters I could not feel any attachment to. Why do all 'gritty' detectives have t... moreo be alcoholic, and why did the lead have to go get herself beaten up out of guilt every so often - that bit just did not ring true.... so some weird characterisation, but an excellent plot. less
