review 1: The reviews I feel do not portray this book correctly. I was not intrigued or kept wanting more at any point. I got about 170 pages in and was left feeling unfulfilled. The book was portrayed as magic and mystery where you are just running around in circles and nothing is even quite that exciting. As someone who loves reading about the past that was the only part I enjoyed about this book was the 1800's parts. Really look into if this book is for you before getting as far as I was into it. The only reason I give it two stars is because It had some flow to it and wasn't a complete mess.
review 2: I won this book on Goodreads and I enjoyed it a great deal. It really held my attention with many twists and turns. It happened to be a subject I am intrigued with so ... moreI found it quite interesting in that regard. The writing was very visual and olfactory. I enjoyed the characters and how they intermingled with each other. The popping back and forth in time was very well written. I also love the necklace that is pictured on the cover! less
