review 1: Naturally I wasn't disappointed by yet another Mo Hayder story. Caffery is even more tormented and lost as you switch perspectives and get to see him as others are seeing him. I wish that there was more back story on his decision to up and leave his childhood home, maybe have even been a part of that move since it was so essential to his character in the first two books. And I'm a tad confused by his relationship with the Walking Man so I'm interested to see where it goes in the next book. Overall I was not disappointed.
review 2: Fast, hard, captivatingly fun to read...another good book to take when on a relaxing vacation at my parent's place when it's cold and wintery outside. The third book in the Jack Caffery series, and getting better all the time. Jack ha... mores these demons who live in his heart, soul, and mind. And for the most part, Jack doesn't even attempt to banish these demons even though he can pinpoint the precise moment in his past when they appeared. Add Flea to the picture, a new character, another character with demons she can't seem to defeat. Put the two of them together to solve a case of murder and mutilation...and it's a book that I couldn't put down. Mo Hayder is a pro at blending a brutal story with good writing...and that makes for a good mystery/crime writer. less
