review 1: If you look at the cover, the mole rat looks like a mouse or a hippo or something in the drawing, but he's really some kind of rat, because that's what the book's called. All the mole rats are naked, right? And they all really like that. And who doesn't? Everybody in the book is naked, so that's funny. But you know what's REALLY funny? Is that in life, people all wear clothes and they're never naked. Except in the bathroom Right? And everyone in life, people think that being naked is bad and that people should wear clothes. But what the mole rats do is, they're always naked. But the one who wants to wear clothes, he's the weirdo. And everyone thinks he's wrong and people are staring at him and saying "Look, you should be naked too." That's fascinating. There were some REA... moreLLY WEIRD big words in this book, words that when you hear them, they don't sound like they look. Like "Exception." And "Fascinating." But now I can read the word "naked." This guy who wrote it also did the pigeon books, with the hot dog and driving a bus. Mo Willems. I can read his name. He's done I bet about a hundred dozen books. But I only read about ten of them. But he's really good. I should read all of them. All his books are five stars. And this one doesn't even have the pigeon in it.So what we should do now is get a book about real mole rats.
review 2: Naked mole rats never EVER dress up...except for one, Wilbur, who doesn't mind wearing clothes, even tho' his so-called friends think otherwise. Let's face it, we live in a culture that idolizes the human body to the point where it's considered de rigue to rip off clothes in public in a way that demoralizes both the person and whoever is forced to watch. (Exhibit A: Scout Willis and her recent misadventures with public nudity.) But this book helps us realize that it's okay to wear clothes and still feel comfy about ourselves and our bodies. The song says, "We don't have to take our clothes off to have a good time." True? less
