review 1: Huh. Didn't charm me as much as most of Willems' work. Still, it's distinctly stamped with his sly genius and any fans should check it (or one of the other in the series) out!Well. This is weird. I accidentally read it again on Dec. 3. This time I absolutely loved it. I loved that the critters were not all ordinary kitties and bunnies (a giraffe, a crab, and a shark are included)! I loved the fact that in this book that is so simple a 3 yo could, from it, learn phonics, there's a story, a climax, a resolution, and even an epilogue. I loved the matter-of-fact way a certain private issue of getting ready for bed is treated, and the little pun that goes with it. This time I want to give it 5 stars, in fact. Well, back in August I gave it three, so I guess I'll compr... moreomise and give it 4 now.Maybe it helped that I've read other Cat the Cat books since then. I recommend you read several at once, so you can get into the flow of that world.
review 2: This book is so cute! I love cats and I love Mo Willems humor and illustrations. This book is so very simple and yet completely endearing. Cat the Cat realizes it's late and checks to make sure all of her friends are getting ready for bed. Each animal is involved in a different bedtime routine step that will be familiar to children. And then Cat gets to Owl who is not getting for bed at all, but just about to start his night. A completely charming, fun bedtime book for preschoolers. less
