review 1: A novel that deals with loss and the life after. For me personally, it had a few glaring issues. One of which is the fact the sense of loss was never fully conveyed or tackled. There were scenes like the funeral in which sadness comes through. But it felt like that sense of loss is forgotten the rest of the time. That is not what someone usually feels when they lose a parent or a loved one. There is no mention of the confusion, the agonizing feel of loss and guilt, the desperate search for answers, and the crushing feeling of loneliness that comes with these situations.Overall, a good try. But it doesn't even come close to reality in anything but the superficial aspects.
review 2: I was attracted to this book because it is about three sisters who come together up
... moreon their mother's death and since I am the youngest of three sisters, of course I was curious. I didn't see parallels between the girls in the book, myself and my sisters, but that didn't matter much. It was a gripping story, well-written, not overly predictable, although the ending was a bit too prettily tied up. I love my sisters, and I like to think we would come together and act as graciously as these girls when the time comes with our Mom. less

This was a pleasant quick read, but totally predictable and a little sappy.

It was a good sitting by the pool book, not terrific but not terrible.
