review 1: For a book that is definitely not my cup of tea, I am pleasantly surprised to say that I enjoyed this. The author sets up the surrounding plot of a seemingly overused story to leave the reader questioning her presuppositions about love, lust, and adultery. The characters become lovable (even when you don't want them to be), and though the language and scenery leave much to be desired, the story itself is heartwarming and the right amount of saddening. If you like Nicholas Sparks, you'll love this one.
review 2: Obviously not my type of book. I struggled through since this was a book club selection and I wanted to be able to participate in the discussion. At the discussion we all agreed that this was not a romance, they were not in love, or a Christian novel... more, although there are biblical and religious references, and that at best this book was just ok for some of us. Thankfully for me it was an easy, fast read. less
