review 1: This was better then the first for sure, but I found there was an over explanation of things that went on in the first book of the series. If you were just happening to start this series with this book, it would work fine, but for those of us that started with the first book in the series it was over the top.Pros..The storyline compared to the first book was much better. There was a lot more action, there was less wishy washy romantic stuff on the part of Vicky and there was still all the great characters the first book had introduced us too.The story also seemed to flow much more smoothly.Cons..Besides the fact that there was an over explanation of the first novel, the part of the story that dealt with Juliet seemed completely at odds with what was going on. Almost as ... moreif two separate stories was running parallel. While I understand this was a set up for the storyline in the next book, the fact that it wasn't introduced at the end but ran the along with the whole of this story was odd. Usually at the end of one book you have the setup for the next. For me it just seemed like Juliet's story was out of place. The series continues to keep my attention and as long as it does that, I'll continue to read the series even if it's not one of my favorites. BTW I'm not sure how I feel about Kane or Daniel. review 2: The first part was very good and moved in an upbeat then it slowed down mid part. The part where Vicky stayed with Aunt Mab, though important, and did her lessons and training was a little dull for me. Do you remember the wax-in-wax-out part of Karate Kid? There's a reason why that was done in montage & not a detailed rudimentary illustration of strength training and skill building. I was so tempted to DNF this but sheer determination kept me going on. Things started to pick up again in the last 100 pages. HELLFORGED was an OK read for me. Overall I love the world building, the wacky zombies, Juliet Capulet and all the other characters. less

I don't think this one is quite as good as the first in the series, but still an enjoyable read.
