review 1: I adored this book! I thought it was really well written, and I actually enjoyed the jumping back and forth in time as it kept me on my toes. The story he told was sad yet beautiful at the same time, and the ending was perfect. I really got into the relationship between Matt and Simon, seeing it through the eyes of a 6 year old boy. Plus it felt completely believable, as in it seemed extremely realistic how the two acted together and the parts Matt could actually remember with being so young. It's obviously so true that memories can get muddled from childhood and you don't get to choose which bits you can remember and which bits fall away. So how the writer portrays this is spot on in my books. I also felt such a wave of emotion when reading about how Simon died and the fa... morect that Matt blamed himself. The fact was that he was just playing as boys do and it got out of hand, but he still believed that it was his fault. Also when he began to talk about his illness (he's schizophrenic, which isn't mentioned on the blurb so I apologise for the spoiler!) I really felt concerned and drawn into his story, experiencing everything with him That is how good the writing is, I felt completely connected to Matt and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing gripped for the ending. I definitely recommend this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I felt that it was about something real and meaningful. Amazingly good read!
review 2: This book wasn't I thought it was going to be, in fact, it was better. I didn't want to put this book down! I love how it was written from the point of view of the person with the illness and how he was coping with his brothers death. It made me feel for him and hope that he would continue to get better. I recommend this book for anyone, it's a quick read and will keep you turning the pages. less
