review 1: When I requested this book, I had no idea that it was a vegan(no meat,no dairy) diet book. I was very skeptical as I began reading it. It was written by a cardiologist who, over the course of his practice, has seen miraculous recoveries occur simply by patients adopting a vegan diet. He pulls from numerous other medical studies that also support the results that he has seen.He encourages you to just try the diet for 21 days and see the results. So I have been following it for the last 3 weeks now, which is very low fat, no meat and no dairy. I was really hoping to see more changes in my energy level, which stayed about the same(I am still exhausted when my head hits the pillow every night around 10 pm). But I was very encouraged by the weight loss results as I lost 8 ... morepounds in 3 weeks and I can honestly say that whenever I was hungry, I could eat. So it was the first time in years that I have lost weight and not been starving myself. I am planning on continuing to eat this way to lose more weight and eat healthier. The amount of fruit and vegetables I consume on a daily basis is at least double what I was eating before. Unfortunately, my husband is allergic to soy, and beans, and nuts which has made for some creative cooking and means that sometimes I am eating something different than what the family is eating. The first couple weeks were hard because it took some time to change my mindset about what I could eat and make for meals but the back of the book has a lot of menu ideas and recipes which helped and were delicious!
review 2: This is a pretty interesting book. First off, when I picked it up, I had no idea it was a vegan diet concept. I probably wouldn't have even looked at if I had known. That being said, I'm pretty intrigued. I may just attempt to incorporate these concepts into my diet, or, I might even try it all out. I really don't eat very much meat, so this might just work. Although I am not sure about the dairy aspect. I LOVE my yogurt. And whey protein. We will see. Definitely interesting and definitely worth reading. The author did tend to dumb things down throughout the book - I felt he could have been a little more specific or detailed. And he repeated several things multiple times. In his rant against chicken, I would have preferred to hear why baked chicken is so bad, not just fried, breaded, etc. chicken. Maybe I just need to read the study he was discussing. less

Not as much a "diet" book as a great book for validation of a vegetarian lifestyle... great recipes!
