review 1: come dio comanda mentre lo leggi lo odi, ti disgusta, quasi ti fa schifo. odi i personaggi che sono sporchi fuori e dentro. ti disgusta il posto dove abitano che �� ai margini del mondo in cui vivi tu. ti fa schifo la loro vita, ti fanno schifo i loro pensieri. tutti i pensieri, tranne quelli di cristiano che �� un bambino. e questo bambino lo ami perch�� pulito, anche se vive nello sporco, perch�� puro, anche se vive al confine con l'illecito. perch�� cerca un riscatto per s�� e per le persone che lo circondano. e attraverso cristiano cominci a cercare di capirli tutti questi altri personaggi, perch�� lui li ama. cos�� come sono: brutti, sporchi e cattivi.
review 2: I read this maybe in 2009 in it's original langu... moreage when I was living in Rome. Four years on ( back in England ) and some aspects of the story spring to mind at least once a week, like having a flash back in a way. It is a mesmerizing book and having lived in an Italian city for ten years I could understand the characters desperation for a better life because Ammaniti depicts the true picture of what the world holds as a beautiful place. The poverty, unemployment, lack of opportunities, prejudice views in a fast changing society...Italy can't keep up with the rest of Europe, it's religion is embedded in the society that's why it's such an apt title because even the baddest people have God. Great book, unforgettable ! less
