review 1: I kept wanting to like this book so much. The idea of the story of the seamstress behind the iconic pink suit that Jackie Kennedy wore to Dallas was so intriguing. The glimpse into the fashion world for the blue book crowd in America in the 1960's was interesting, and I adored the quotes from the fashion designers that opened each chapter. I just could not seem to get engrossed in the characters' lives. They seemed flat, and I could not seem to care enough about them. The book felt choppy to me as if it had been carelessly edited. A for effort, but never was I engrossed in the story of the seamstress at Chez Ninon.
review 2: I really enjoyed reading about the fictional story behind creating Jackie Kennedy's famous pink suit. Readers are taken back to the early
... more '60s and in particular to the excitement of the fashion world as the country's young and vibrant First Lady is showcased like never before. My only disappointment is the ending. I would have liked the book to have gone on more into the days following the President's assassination. less
