review 1: Not a favorite. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm not sure I'll read any more by him. Almost none of the characters were the least bit likable, and by the end of the book, I was rooting for him to kill off one more of the main characters. I'm relatively well versed on politics and news and happenings in the world, but some of the detail and storyline left me completely confused. Several times during the reading of this book I wanted to just quit and stop reading, but figured I should stick it out since I'd gotten that far into it. I absolutely despise Sophie.
review 2: This was a solid book, but compared to other Steinhauer novels, a little weak. Perhaps it's because of the recurring characters in the other novels (and that they are serie... mores, and they I started reading them after they had all come out), but I just enjoyed those characters and those books more. This novel was a little bit all over the place, with the main character Sofie being somewhat unbelievable. That said, still an enjoyable spy novel less
