review 1: This is the third book in the Milo Weaver series. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first two. It was a little harder to follow. The story switched back and forth in time and from the point of view of different characters. But Steinhauer is a great contemporary espionage author. In this book Weaver’s former boss, Alan Drummond from the CIA’s Department of Tourism, has disappeared - has he gone rogue or is he seeking revenge against a Chinese agent? Weaver is reluctantly pulled into the operation when Drummond uses one of Milo’s aliases. Then Weaver’s family is threatened. His father’s UN secret intelligence unit also gets involved. It was enjoyable to spend more time with these characters as the story unfolds further.
review 2: Milo IS
... more totally in the book! And, it turns out to be an even more interesting Milo than I expected. The front story & setup is very interesting, for me, actually riveting. It is literally 20% of the book that passes before Milo shows up and then never leaves. Not exaggerating & don't understand any of the criticisms about Milo's roll. I pinched the front pages that past before he shows up...well, you all must have had a different book. Loved the new character & Milo's new....well, have to read it. less

Pretty good, though not as much fun as first book. More convoluted than other books in the series...

I feel it wasn't as strong a book as the previous two, but good nonetheless.
Nay
Good spy novel series. Steinhauer handles his plots very well.

Not recommended, I can't believe the real world is like this.
