review 1: I read this book because it was recommended by a friend, who knew I lived in Munich . I had visited some of the places mentioned in the book and liked the descriptions of them. At the beginning, the author caught my attention but he didn't hold it throughout the novel. I thought the clues were unimaginative and distracted from the story. It was a good book to carry to the beach because it was one I could put down and pick up later without much interruption.

... moreel based on the conspiracies around Ludgwig the Second of Bavaria's death. A fantastic read which made me dying to visit Germany and see the beautiful creations of Ludwig's imagination! The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is due to the fact that the novel's ending seemed an awful lot like the ending of Da Vinci Code, written far before this. Overall, amazing read! less

Nice handle on the whole Ludwig II murder conspiracy. Potzsch does a great job making it suspensful.

Good story written around historical people and interwoven with some exciting drama and intrigue.

a Da Vinci Code-esque story but the writing is far better than Dan Brown's.

Very interesting historical detail, but felt a lot like a Dan Brown novel.
