review 1: I read this book because it was recommended by a friend, who knew I lived in Munich . I had visited some of the places mentioned in the book and liked the descriptions of them. At the beginning, the author caught my attention but he didn't hold it throughout the novel. I thought the clues were unimaginative and distracted from the story. It was a good book to carry to the beach because it was one I could put down and pick up later without much interruption.
review 2: After reading all of Potzch's "Hangman's Daughter" series, I was hooked on his narration and had to read this! I absolutely love Potzch's ability to describe the beautiful countryside of Bavaria, and make you want to be there right alongside the characters. This book is a historically based nov... moreel based on the conspiracies around Ludgwig the Second of Bavaria's death. A fantastic read which made me dying to visit Germany and see the beautiful creations of Ludwig's imagination! The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is due to the fact that the novel's ending seemed an awful lot like the ending of Da Vinci Code, written far before this. Overall, amazing read! less
