review 1: The book is split between a flashback to ten years ago and the present day and for me the two halves were very different. I really enjoyed the ten years ago part when Lily was 16 and felt that the plot about forbidden love and the characterisation and all of the conservation park items were all really well written, and I felt that it just fitted in with the story perfectly. However I did not enjoy the second part as much as the first, I felt that Lily had become extremely irritating and selfish and her relationship with Richard does not seem believable right from the start. The choice that she is going to have to make is obvious from the beginning and the outcome is again obvious and I was hoping for some sort of twist. I did still enjoy this book and I especially liked th... moreat it was set in Australia but it is not my favourite Toon book.
review 2: A bit cheesy, but you know, I knew what I was getting myself into. This book had a great first half- really, my opinions were purely positive. I loved characters personalities, the setting and I liked what this author did by playing with our expectations. However, when it came to the later half, it started to dwindle a bit. The plot slowed down- at a snails pace- and things got really predictable... and, I hate to say this, boring. Lily wasn't as likable, and this book really lacked the depth of thought that I felt it needed. less
