review 1: It was great to read an engaging young adult book which was neither dystopian nor a romance. Yesterday's Dead tells the story of the Spanish Flu outbreak as it hit Toronto. The central character is a maid in upper class Toronto working for a doctor and his family. The characters are well-developed, the plot is fast-paced and the historical details make the time and place come alive. A great addition to the K-8 or 9-12 school library.
