review 1: Floors #2 by Patrick Carman was not as good as Floors #1, but was still reasonable. It had some exciting parts to it, but didn't nearly strike me quite as magical as the first one. I'm still looking forward to reading the next one, though. Leo owns a hotel named the Whippet, which has tons of amazing rooms and floors, such as the cake room, the pinball machine room, and the room of rings. This book had more dangerous and dungeonous floors, and I think that the author was attempting to make this one more thrilling, but it came off as more of an attempt. Of course, I still liked it. It took me only a few days to read. The first book had a lot more imagination in it, and more of a shocker at the end. However, in the first book, Leo barely had to do anything on his own, while ... morein this one he did more of the hunting and sleuthing himself. In this book, Leo must save the hotel from overdue taxes, and if he doesn't then Ms. Sparks will auction off the hotel and the land it stands on. That part was a bit hard to believe for me, after all, Ms. Sparks was banned from the property. Why did all the staff do what she said even when she didn't technically have power over them? This book has me liking Floors #1 better, but it is an OK read if you're bored and you've read Floors #1.
review 2: My 7 year old son really enjoyed this. I found the details entertaining. This story includes a duck elevator (and ducks!), something called floogers, a mad scientist named "Dr. Flart" (which is just funny to say!), belching galore, a five inch robot, monkeys (with removable tails)... basically a little something for everyone!I've seen reviews describe this as good for reluctant readers. This is the second installment in the series. We haven't read the first yet. less
