review 1: This story turned out so much better than I initially thought, because there was a new protagonist and a whole new set of characters. The only familiar character was Mistress Coyle, who turned out to be not such a complete bitch in this book, and rather good. I liked how her part in the story played out.But the best thing about this short story is the Human-Spackle romance, which I think was very similar to many situations about real actual romances between people of two cultures.Overall, for a short story, this is just INCREDIBLE, and I just love everything about the Chaos Walking trilogy.
review 2: I actually think that:1. this book was the best of the short stories2. it was better than chaos walking books 2 and 3 3. And that the characters were more likeable.
... moreDeclan and rock against the tide were beautiful! And Seeing Mistress Coyle in her earlier years shows how clever and caring she was :) i also particulary love how in the new world there are monsters in the sea, it is so fascinating. Also i liked that Declan had more courage and passion than Todd has. And besides Todd is slightly more cowardly then Declan (even though i love Todd it's the truth)DEFINITELY READ THIS ONE... DOESNT MATTER IF YOU DONT READ THE OTHER SHORT STORIES THIS ON IS EPIC less

Dramatic, intense, and well-written. A great in-between story for the Chaos Walking series.
