review 1: Okay, I really should have given this trilogy more but it jerked me around so much that I've gotta get some payback. I actually loved them despite that. They're great and original. *SPOILERS(Sort of, and they're just little)* The story is quality. The ending romantic. but every book goes through the same pattern. It goes like this, things start pretty crappy and the situation gets worse and worse (with occasional getting better to mix things up) and then it gets better. Everything is looking up and the good guys are wining(Horray! Breathes of relief! Celebration!) but then it isn't over (Oh No!). Everything just falls to crap after that. Even worse than it was before it got better (When you didn't think that was even possible!). But I'd still call them worth it. The underl... moreying themes of racism and sexism are put forward is a way that I didn't even really see them for what they were till I was done. Though to someone else they may be heavy-handed. Read this stuff and find out for yourself.
review 2: I AM INSANELY IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES! ONE OF THE BEST SERIES I'VE PROBABLY EVER READ, SO THANK YOU PATRICK NESS (FAVORITE AUTHOR NOW!)Okay so before I start I think I owe it to Ness that I dedicate at least some of my review of this series to him. Although I have only read these three books he has published (but I do have some of his others), he is already one of my favourite authors, up there with: John Green, Rick Yancey and sooo many others. His writing style is amazing, it's so honest and true. He writes like he's actually having a conversation with you (in these books anyway) and if other writers wrote like this, I'd be hooked even if their story lines were crappy. So, yeah, thanks Patrick Ness for being the almighty overlord of young adult fiction! This series follows a multitude of characters: Todd Hewitt, Viola Eade etc. but mainly Todd for the most part. Todd is the main protagonist of this series, and he is a young boy living in the mysterious town of Prentisstown. Todd is kept in the shadows of Prentisstown's history up until late in the first book, but all that aside. less
