review 1: Three stars seems an inadequate response to The Obsidian Blade, when my impulse upon finishing it was to immediately start reading the next in the Klaatu Diskos series, The Cydonian Pyramid. This first in a series of three establishes characters, terms, landscape, etc. This multi-layered foundation that pulled me along with the action and also had me reflecting on what was being suggested. I was hooked by the end of chapter two with the statement "There is no God..." by a man of the cloth. But, I do want to know the characters better... and I will have to keep reading the series if I have any chance of it. So, this first in the series has done a good job. Teens, adventure, time travel, family, religion, what is destined/is it destined?, and yes, giant pink maggots, I antic... moreipate Book Two will be a four star review.
review 2: Very short, but very fun! read it in one morning. If you do not like people irreverently interweaving Christianity into science fiction, then this is not for you. But if you like time travel, scifi, almost teen novels, religion, loss of faith, twisting of faith, destiny vs. free will, all mixed up, then this might work. My criteria for how I star something is based on how badly I want to read the next book. This one I looked for right away, so 5 stars! less
