review 1: Life in the city for Mr. Tiger is stagnant. Everyone behaves in a formal and polite manner, but Mr. Tiger is beginning to find it too uptight and boring. He wants to let go and enjoy life by being a little wild, but the others do not approve of it happening in the city. Will things change or will Mr. Tiger have to leave the city? This book has an excellent message for people of all ages, that it is okay to just be yourself. The art was very purposeful, fitting the story perfectly, and beautiful. Near the end it felt a little rushed and did not quite fit well with the pacing of rest of the book. Was still a worthwhile read and message.
review 2: Date: November 12th, 2014Author: Peter Brown Title: Mr. Tiger Goes WildPlot: Mr. Tiger is a prim and proper in his town
... more and he is tired of it! He hates wearing top-hats and ties and walking on two legs. Suddenly one day, he goes wild. Setting: Small Town; English-inspired (the clothes remind me of Sherlock Holmes: very British and put-together).Characters: Mr. Tiger (Main Character)Point-of-View: Third-Person Theme: Freedom; Freedom of Expression; Individuality Style: Illustrations are muted; watercolor; pencil on paper; Narrative FictionCopyright: 2013Notes: This book reminded me of Madagascar because Mr. Tiger was a civilized individual, but was tired of the civilized life, so he decided that being in the wild felt more natural to him, however, he experienced loneliness, which may happen on occasion (especially in real life), when one decides to "do-their-own-thing". Students should read this book because they need to know that it's okay to be different and that you don't have to be like everyone else. I find that this book could also be appealing to adults because Mr. Tiger had in my opinion a meltdown and went crazy, or what I would also like to call it: a midlife crisis. less
