review 1: a fictionalized version of how the HIghline walkway/garden in Manhattan, New York City occurred…told in simple terms, with wonderful illustrations…the story is not idealized, and i love it that winter comes and covers things up, and the landscape that Liam first discovers looks mighty bleak. a very worthwhile read-aloud book, and plenty of illustrations to enliven the story, Peter Brown has done a masterful job.
review 2: My children and I really enjoyed both the story and illustrations in this book. We loved seeing how the garden grew, expanded and filled the city.
