review 1: I loved this book from close to the beginning. I was hooked by the way the narrator switched between voices and accents and even more so by the story itself. I love a good mystery, especially when it isn't about solving a murder! Why is this building weird? I don't know Shaggy, let's go check it out! They find out about all the things they can and continue digging deeper. They eventually uncover secrets that have been hidden for over a hundred years and of course they make mistakes and have to fix them. Great in novel tip of the hat to Scooby, Shaggy and the gang, as well as to Lovecraft and Tesla. Very fun read. I certainly wasn't expecting the reveal but maybe you can figure it out with all the clues he lays out for you. There are a couple of questions that he ... moretruly left unanswered, but then I don't understand any of the math or physics of it. Still, if you can leave reality behind for awhile then you will truly enjoy this novel and I recommend it to you. review 2: The Scoobydoo Gang meets The Big Bang theory, as a group of people living in an apartment building, uncover their building isn't just bricks and mortar, but something else entirely. I really enjoyed the nerdy characters and sci-fi/mystery elements of this book. A totally whacky story that includes history and science, yet keeps it fun and funny all the way through. A four star read except for the ending; the silliness could have ended a few chapters early. less
