review 1: Short stories are hard. I can't get invested in characters and there's usually no proper ending. Listening to them is even harder because I miss important things easily when I get distracted. I really liked the writing for this one though. Everything is just so clearly described. And because it is a collection of four intermingled short stories, there is that something extra in trying to find out the hidden connections between one story to the next.
review 2: I'm usually not a post-apocalyptic-zombie-type of person, so it's high praise from me to say that I enjoyed this book. The interweaving of four different stories brought an interesting perspective. My only lament is that the fate of all the characters is unknown. Much backstory is hinted in these pages, a... morelong with many loose ends. I would not be opposed to read either a prequel or sequel that would shed more light. less
