review 1: It's Not Like I Planned it This Way was part of a series. I loved the first book and I loved the second book even more! It summarized a normal teenage girl's life and the ups and downs, sad and happy moments, relationships and family problems, (father getting re-married, brother moving out) fighting with friends or watching a friend go through pain. I've never cried at a book (because I don't read usually) and i didn't cry at this book but I could see why some people would. It's humorous, romantic, and realistic. It was 700 something pages and I read it in 4 days it was that good and like I previously said I don't really read. I would recommend this book to anyone! Just some parts of the book were really annoying by Alice's attitude and how she was a paranoid freak about e... moreverything like when she takes the drivers test and freaks out if any little thing happens. But overall it's amazing!
review 2: 3.5 stars. I became hooked on the "Alice" series with the first large compilation "I Like Him He Likes Her." The writing is geared more to 15-17 yr old readers, although I found Naylor's writing to be refreshing and the story, while not riveting, a delightful, honest, view of the life of a young girl going through the growing pains of becoming a young adult. A definite recommended read for girls transitioning into high school. This compilation is the second and grows with the character in both writing and content. I've just started the third set "Please Don't Be True" and looking forward to her last in the series due out in October "Now I'll Tell You Everything." less
