review 1: The story plot was good but could not understand what was the purpose of Sophie as a ghost. She could not do anything, she couldn't help and how the author described her like she was shrinking was upsetting. The story was in certain chapters tedious but I stuck to it cause there were some secrets that Sophie had that I had to know what they were, not worth it....And the way the book finished was sooo disappointing. What happened to Sophie in the end??? Did she just melt away?? No white light or anything she did not move on?? The story had potential was a good idea but in my humble opinion it was not written to its full potential and the ending left me wondering what was the purpose of the whole story just for everyone to forget about Sophie including her son and Sophie ... moreto dissolve into nothing..
review 2: This book was a really good read. At the start of the story Sophie Brady says goodbye to her husband Ollie and son Freddie and goes for a night out with her best friend Jenny, sadly the evening ends in disaster as Sophie is knocked down and killed by a bus. This could mean the book is very depressing and, of course, it is not entirely a cheery read but there are some great characters and the story is well written so you are swept along. Part of the story is told from the point of view of Sophie who is still around watching over her family and friends, though frustrated by not being able to interact with them, she wants to make sure they are ok. The rest of the book is focussed on Jenny, trying to cope without her best friend, help look after Freddie and support Ollie. She gets to know some of Sophie's other friends as they launch a Help Ollie campaign and has to try to deal with her less than sympathetic boyfriend. The story takes place in the year after Sophie's death and looks at how her death affects those around her and how they deal with their grief. I would recommend this to anyone who likes chick lit with a bit of extra depth. less
