review 1: This is chick lit plain and simple. Easy going, nothing more dramatic than a falling out with friends. The idea of the bootcamp was interesting enough that I stuck with the book but Molly was irritating and I have to say she was written in quite a patronising way bearing in mind she was single herself for most of the book! Also she was clearly spoilt - acting like an entrepreneur when really all she did was borrow a lot of money from her Mum! I was quite pleased when Cleo (cool name!) told her she was going to have to stand on her own two feet! Having said that I did like the retro film references and I think that Molly probably wasn't THAT bad as these sort of books go. Patrick could have been more interesting but I felt he was underused a bit and I didn't feel the chemis... moretry that much between him and Molly - I actually thought for a while that she was going to end up with John. The overuse of 'Mollypops' and 'bums' was a bit too sugary sweet for my liking - she wasn't a child after all and generally it was a bit too airy fairy we all want to live in a perfect world and have a man do exactly what we want him to do etc to be particularly memorable in anyway BUT having said that I did finish it and it would make a nice Summer holiday read if you want something slightly original that means you don't have to think too much.
review 2: I really enjoyed this story, the premise is quite original and the characters are likeable, modern women who sometimes make mistakes. It's witty and funny and full of pop culture references that made me smile again and again. It wasn't a page-turner for me, rather something I savoured over a week. I would have liked to see some more of Patrick, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Chick lit at its best . less
