Grateful Post: While at Lulus picking up groceries tonight, stooping down (almost to the ground) trying to reach the Brussels sprouts in the far back where the freshest produce is usually placed, I all of a sudden in the midst of my stretching, hear jingles and little feet running in my direction. By the time I turn around there was a little girl next to me, who nearly climbs to the back of the tray, almost as far as I had been reaching, to pick out get the best ones to give to me *chuckles* it was the cutest little thing ever. She placed them carefully in my hand one by one, as I quickly scanned over the good ones, dropping them in my bag, thanking her and praising her generosity, while silently and guiltily slipping the not so wholesome ones to my cart to return to the batch later on when her attention was diverted. She continued to help for about three minutes or so, no parent in sight, which isn't strange practice in the UAE as folks tend to leave their property—cell phones, purses, drinks, car keys, their children, unattended on a regular basis; there is a kind of security that exists here which seems inexplicable and highly unfamiliar in the Western world. And naturally, though these Emirates are flooded with expats, everyone seems to follow suit and uphold the precepts of this great nation. Back to the story. So her mom comes over after a little while, we exchanged greetings before I told her how very pleasant and helpful her daughter had been. I then turned to the little girl asked her name. "Ansa", she said. I asked her how old she was, "Two years old". I praised her thoughtfulness and consideration, letting her know what a big girl and very good helper she is. We communed for a brief while longer before going along our separate ways.
As I move on to another section, here comes those same little jingles and footsteps running toward me while her mom is yelling her name repeatedly and telling her that they had to go. She stood there for a minute contemplating her whole life, but then decided to obey her momma, waving goodbye to me again with another smile before returning back to her mom. She was such a burst of sunshine that came out of nowhere like a rocket in the night. I left smiling ear to ear and feeling thankful for my little helper who blessed me on tonight by getting my "hard to reach Brussels sprouts" and sharing a few smiles. God bless that little angel💝🎀👼🏾 #Littlepeoplearesocool #ittakesachildtoraiseavillage #theyareverything #heavensblessing
