review 1: When I finished up this book my first thoughts were I'm exhausted and not in a good way. This is a book I wanted to like with themes of age gap, daddy kink, and disability some of my favs. Yet the dialogue in this book was confusing and disjointed. I had to stop more than once and reread sections just to figure out what was going on. The characters can't figure out what was being said how are the readers? There were several time Will said "Oh, I get it." and I'm think damm I didn't care to enlighten me, sadly he doesn't. Add to that all the old movie references that I didn't get just added to my confusion. This is a a character driven story heavy on dialogue so unfortunately I remained frustrated and feeling like I was missing important parts of the story. Charlie... more seemed incapable of talking to Will with any coherency and although I can see a shy not so good with people type character it doesn't fit with him being a former cop and now a school teacher very well. Will was hyper always misunderstanding and I never really got a good handle on his character at all. There were glimmers of things that interested me like Charlie's family and his insecurities that revolve around taking care of them. But overall it wasn't enough to make up for the disjointed frustrating conversations between the MCs.
review 2: I really wanted to like this book! I saw great potential in these characters in the beginning. But in the end I found myself scratching my head in total confusion. Will's character is spastic and I kept hoping it would all clear up and it just didn't. The pacing was far too slow and plot just didn't pull me enough to feel a whole lot. I was excited to read this book so it's always a bit of a let down when its not what you hoped. less

Amazing book. This was such a wonderful read. It was long but I didn't want it to end.

What a lovely surprise this book is! A slow, sweet burn into romance.
