review 1: I adored Fortune’s Pawn, the first novel in the Paradox series, and Honor’s Knight was gobbled up just as quickly, with every bit as much enjoyment. Devi was working on the Glorious Fool as one of two security personnel, and has just lost her partner in a deadly fight. She was injured and has lost some of her memories as well, and for some reason she feels nauseated whenever she lays eyes on the ship’s cook, a man whose name she just can’t seem to remember. Devi is determined to just do her job and stay out of trouble, but she’s seeing the glowing “bugs” she had seen before, and there’s a black stain that appears on her hands when she gets agitated. Devi is such a strong, courageous character, you just can’t help but hope for the best for her, even th... moreough it doesn’t seem like she’ll survive all of the trouble that seems to find her, no matter what she does. No one is what they first appeared to be, and the mysteries just keep unfolding, as we get deeper and deeper into the reasons behind the mission of the Glorious Fool and her Captain. There is so much action, and of course Devi’s armored suit is amazing, the story just flies from one exciting event to another. I can’t wait to read the next book, Heaven’s Queen, to find out what happens to Devi and all of the other wonderful characters I’ve enjoyed so much.
review 2: 4.5 stars. Rarely do I like a second book better than the first, but I really liked this one a lot. I really enjoyed the story. I love the on-the-edge-of-seat battle scenes. I love the complicated relationships. And surprisingly, I really like the moral ambiguity in the story. Besides the main character, this one keeps me guessing as to who are the good guys and the bad guys. I plan a fuller review after book three. less

This was good once it got going, but I didn't fall into it quite as easily as the first one.

This felt hastily put together. I won't finish this series after all.
