review 1: Not sure where the authors are going with making Mat the bait. While books 11-13 were very short, this one was way longer, way less sex more coming romantic with Nate and much more plot. Didn´t like that paradise Island was over so fast. Nikolai and Roger warned Mat so much about Allen, but Nikolais training seemed way worse in the end (okay there was murder and a whipping, but compared to the first season that was nothing).
review 2: Ok I have steadily rated this series as 3 stars but this one was a 4.After escaping at the end of the last book Mat is finally free. This makes the book no easier to read than any of the previous ones - Dougie is not free and Mat is dealing with PTSD. But everything that attracts me to Mat as a character is in this book, his grit
... more and vulnerability cant help but move you.I don't think we are through the darkness, but you can see the possibility of lightness ahead. There is also a very brief surprise appearance of two well loved FBI characters from the m/m world which almost made me wonder if I had opened the wrong book. less

It was nice to see a little hope, and to have a small break from all the 24/7 torture.
