review 1: This book gets a 5 star review but for reasons that are unexpected, in my experience, anyway...while the book may still be brutal, with cruel mind games and abuse, there was a respite in the sadism- an abatement in the severity of the almost constant delivery of pain.Then, when I thought this series couldn't surprise me anymore, it did...and so effecetively. There was a delivery of PLEASURE...from master to slave...to Dougie. After suffering so since the beginning of the first book, it was such a relief to see Dougie experience physical pleasure, ecstasy even...Of course, deriving such enjoyment at the hands of a man he so despised, caused Dougie great shame and humiliation. But he was defenseless against his own arousal, his own enjoyment, and ultimately his own climax. T... morehis was so mesmerizing to me as a reader for 2 reasons:1. Dougie will be intimate with men as a way of life. His ability to experience pleasure will make his life so much more bearable.2. As a reader, I got turned on as Dougie got turned on. And, just like Dougie, I felt shame at my own vicarious enjoyment of such a sick and twisted, non-consentual sexual situation.That, my friends, is the work of some talented writers...breaking the reader while simultaneously breaking the character. Only to have both of them practically keening with gratitude when the slightest kindness is granted...Brilliant!
review 2: OK.....these books are extremely extremely read with caution for those people who are not into rape and incest. So FOR THOSE I say ********* READ WITH CAUTION************I really found these books very consuming and it hooked me right away. The love that these two brothers have for each other a devotion you don't see very often now days. I hurt with these two. To know that there are people in this world who could be so heartless. I want to slap and hit these people and defend these two and see justice all in the same breath!!! These are very fast short reads and find myself not able to put them down. I have read till book five and maybe will wait till the series is done. It is getting a lil pricey. We will see. Good writing by the author. The complexity of all the characters is not an easy feat. It is not rushed and I even find myself holding my breath!! Will definitely continue on. less
