review 1: I'm a little conflicted about this one. My thought is it would be better if more time went into editing and proofreading. The grammar errors/ typos are glaring yet easy enough to fix, so I'm not sure why they're there. There's an overuse of dashes. A lot of the time, a dash is used where a comma should be. And sometimes a typo can really drag you out of the story, because you have to read a sentence twice to get the meaning. Observations about plot/characters: There seems to be an abundance of good-looking, 20-something males around in the Zombie Apocalypse; and a good portion of them are into Reagan. And, hey, let's face it-- Reagan is kind of a tease, which is FINE. But when her excuse for leading Hendrix on is "oh, I haven't known him that long, how could I have feeling... mores for him?": It seems a little disingenuous. Which brings me to my next point: No matter how fantastical the setting (Zombie Apocalypse) if the characters act in a REAL way, if their motives don't seem contrived, then the story will come through. A lot of the time, motives seemed very contrived throughout this story.Having said all that, the story and relationships kept me reading. I'll probably read at least the next Volume of season 1. I just hope the author discovers how awesome a semicolon can be and allows Reagan to let loose a bit with regards to whatever lean-muscled guy she's with at any given time.
review 2: In the world of entertainment, I like television, but I will ALWAYS choose reading a book first. This set of serials gives me the best of both worlds. Each episode is action packed, full of humour, drama, and that touch of romance (or sexual tension). Honestly, they are so good and addicting, I just love the rollercoaster ride each episode takes you on. Reagan is a fabulous protagonist -- spunky, sassy, strong. And the rest of the cast of characters just round things out nicely -- each bringing something a bit different to the eclectic group. Reading through this volume 1 was actually my second time through each of these 6 episodes, and it was nice not to have to wait between each one (since they are so addicting). I also ended up enjoying the Haley episode in the middle MORE the second time through. The first time through I missed Reagan, but having all the episodes in one volume, I knew I would be getting more Reagan later, so it was nice to have a glimpse into Haley's head, and into her own relationship. If you have a problem with patience (like me), then I highly recommend waiting for these volumes. I LOVE the episodic nature of this series, but at the same time I prefer the Netflix-like binging that I get from reading 6 episodes in a row without waiting. Can't WAIT to see where it goes!! less
