review 1: The Unidentified is a great book for teens and adults alike. I started off reading it as a school requirement, but ended up loving this novel. The main character, Kid, is such a relatable person- it almost feels as if you could be her. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoyed The Hunger Games or Divergent, as it is along the same lines of setting and time. The Unidentified was and amazing science fiction novel overall.
review 2: As a communication studies major, I loved the premise of this book. A future world where the government has run out of funding for schools, so media and marketing takes over? A scarily realistic portrayal. Mariz creates new curses ("Oh my Google") deifying media moguls. This book is solidly in the YA category, but falls fl
... moreat particularly at the end. It left holistic ends too frayed and wrapped up the love interest too perfectly to be satisfying. The book starts out strong with an intriguing media-based dystopian society, but doesn't really delve into any of the facets of the idea-- I wanted to hear more about society outside of the game, how students were chosen or cleared for entering the game (do they have to pay, considering we are led to believe not all school-aged people are in the game), and more on how the game worked as a learning environment according to the author's perspective. less

Not an excellent book, but then again, not the worst book I've ever read. 3 stars.
