review 1: first paragraphPrologue Child The skies shrieked. Overhead, a storm of black energies shot out tendrils that reached forth and attached themselves to the first structure they encountered. The sound generated was almost as terrifying as the sight of everything they touched collapsing into rubble.Feist, Raymond E. (2011-04-12). A Kingdom Besieged: Book One of the Chaoswar Saga (p. 1). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
review 2: I feel like there was way too much dialog in this one. Big Feist fan here, but there was simply too much setup to get through before the action started. A nice thread of a demon spawning that was worked through the story to keep things moving, but all in all, could have still used more action and less talking. Still, the ending was powerfu
... morel and I'm obligated to follow this story to the end. I'll miss Midkhemia of course, but the Pug epic needs to be wrapped up. less

Learning from some of the mistakes of the previous series, the author goes back to the formula that worked in the original. Fitting as this will be the last series. And it still works - the intrigue, and attention to small details while operating inside a worldwide scope of battle is what the series was based on, and it is how I would want it to go out. I look forward to the rest of the final series, as the rift wars finally come to a close.

It took awhile for the story to pick up the pace but things were intriguing enough to keep reading. The character Child was actually pretty cool even for a demon, most demons in stories are stupidly human like or considered outright evil and stupid so this was a nice surprise for me. Martin was also a good character but fell a bit flat in the development area. More of a political story then one of action and adventure.

glad Feist appears to be back for this final trilogy in Pug's life.
