“Flowers in the Attic” Book Review! Spoiler Free :)

Hello There!

I now present you, the first must read of my little library of happiness, “Flowers in the Attic” by VC Andrews.

Let’s cut right to the chase, “Flowers in the Attic” has a solid 4/5 shining stars, and here’s why:

First of all, one of the best qualities I personally like in a book is how hooking it is, and this novel is definitely hard to put down. I coudn’t stop reading! I always wanted to know what was going to happen next, and I ended up reading this in two days. If you are into mystery books, you are really going to enjoy it!

The plot in general was very unique, it isn’t like anything I’ve read before, and it constantly made want to know what was going to happen next, as I mentioned before. The Dollanganger family’s secrets and relationships are all exposed, and make for a great story, as they are as intriguing as they are a bit disturbing. As soon as you start this novel, you are going to find out they are not your typical family. The reader gets to witness the main characters grow, which I thought was something essential for the plot, as it let’s us see how the decisions we make affect the rest of our lives.

The best quality of “Flowers in the Attic”, was VC Andrews’ descriptiom and use of words. It was so vivid, at some points it made me feel what the characters were going through. All  protagonists were beautifully created and described so well I feel I know them personally.  My emotions were all over the place and that is something I’m always looking for in a book, a novel that leaves you feeling something you have never experienced before.

One aspect that really frustrated me though, was that at times the book got a little repetitive, and I’m not a patient reader. It obviously needed to be this way for it to show the chracters’ perspective of frustration and agony, but my preference is books that go at a faster pace.

I am very excited to start reading the second book in this series, “Petals on the Wind” and witness the future adventures of this one of a kind family.

Remember that kindness is free!
