My ThoughtsFirst off, this book was confusing for me to read. I had started it while I was listening to an audiobook where one of the characters shifts into a cougar and in this book characters can shift into a werewolf. Also, I had just finished a book where a character named Amy dies and the main character is haunted by her death. Just a bit confusing, BUT I did totally love this book. I had won the first two books from a blog years ago and knew I would love them.
I liked how the werewolves were built up in this book, different from what you’d usually see in books. It was more of a disease, Lupine Syndrome, that infected people, giving them the ability to change into a wolf. However, it wasn’t all fun and games – if you had Lupine Syndrome, you were most likely to be shipped away to a rehabilitation center. There were so many twists and turns in this story and I loved the main characters, the romance, and the wolves! It wasn’t until Kelley Armstrong’s books that I really started loving werewolves and this book had me loving them even more.
I had kind of hoped that this book would be more of a standalone with the next books being their own stories set in the same world, but it looks like this one continues on. The main character, while I loved her, was a little annoying at times, but I’m still looking forward to getting more of her story. And Jason? I so wasn’t a fan of him. I think he was supposed to be unlikeable but I felt like it was almost over the top.
However, I’m still looking forward to continuing on with this series! And I look forward to seeing what Kathleen Peacock comes up with next.
