review 1: A bit predictable. The heroine seemed a bit weak at first, though I liked that she was aware and ashamed of her ungrounded fears, or so she thought. The hero personality was schematic at best, no past, no personal history, nothing specific that I had not read many times about a bodyguard. The ending was a bit rushed and in my opinion, they were more playing house in the penthouse of a big hotel rather than really live together. It was nonetheless rather enjoyable.
review 2: Disclosure: I received this book for free from Goodreads in a monthly giveaway. The Baker's Bodyguard by Lori Ryan is a novella that is filled with humor, love, passion and a small mystery. ... moreough backstory to fill in the blanks regarding Jesse, Zach and the rest of the family and friends. The story line regarding Jesse and her fears was the focal point in this book. I found the steps that Zach used to help Jesse grow past her fears to be very interesting because I didn't know that family members could be so strongly affected by a family trauma, like kidnapping.Although this is a short story, Jesse and Zach's characters were complete and the secondary characters kept the love story moving.I plan on reading more from this author. less
