What’s to say about The Burning? It’s the on-screen debut of TV’s George Costanza, Jason Alexander. It’s the writing debut of Bob and Harvey Weinstein (yes, THOSE Weinstein brothers). It has a score composed by prog-rock band Yes’s keyboard player, Rick Wakeman. And my favorite tidbit, The Burning‘s killer, Cropsey, is based on the Staten Island legend of the child-killing boogeyman.
If you haven’t yet, I would highly recommend watching the documentary titled Cropsey. It follows two filmmakers who grew up on Staten Island with the stories of children disappearing at the hands of the real life boogeyman. Watch it on Amazon Prime or Shudder. And remember to get the Scream Factory collectors edition Blu-ray of The Burning!
