And I thought I was done with YA but apparently not! While this won’t be my most favourite book ever it’s a strong contender with good re-read value.
I enjoyed that the teenagers seemed like actual teenagers instead of sounding like adults in the body of teens, like in a lot of YA books written by adults. It almost felt like I was back at school, apart from the whole demon librarian of course!
Thinking about it though, there was a few demon teachers at our school, mainly in the science department.
The book itself was easy to read and not too long either so I could easily read it before bed because it wasn’t too scary either.
I did like the twist with Aaron as I thought he’d be more of a Giles from Buffy type, so that was a nice little unexpected twist.
There’s not many things that I either disliked or things that annoyed me either, the only main thing I can think of is that Cynthia was constantly begging the demons to not kill her crush, Ryan, but never seemed to try and bargain for her other two friends lives (Diane and Leticia).
I also thought the last few lines seemed a bit weak but it did wrap the whole thing up in a nice way.
Overall, I thoroughly recommend this book! It made me laugh out loud in real life, which pretty much never happens to me. The characters weren’t annoying and I didn’t even roll my eyes once!
It’s my 25th birthday tomorrow, maybe I’m getting soft in my old age?
