review 1: This is my favorite of his horror novels thus far. The well developed characters loom large as he shifts narratives from the past to the present. Cottam is well versed in English literature and incorporates bits of history along with the arts and music from the time periods discussed. He truly leads you on a journey and does that thing he does so well; the immersion in the novel is such that you frequently get surprised by the moments of horror that spring up, and as with any of his books, those moments don't disappoint. The father was characterized so well that I can't help but think it was drawn from someone he knew.
review 2: Creative and enjoyable. As the plot began to unravel it kept your interest as it kept you reading wanting to know where it was headed
... more. I particularly enjoyed the ghostly interactions. The writing flowed reasonably without plot flaws intended to manipulate towards a contrived ending. I especially enjoyed the change in perspective as being written from the stand point of Martin, then changed over to the perspective of Suzanne! An enjoyable literary escape! less
