A Lush start to the year with Big Blue

Hello there and welcome on my little personal spot on the internet. As you may or may not know, I’m a huge fan of all things Lush. There is no Lush store near my home but a few times a year when I go shopping in Maastricht or Ghent I’m lucky enough to pick up some Lush goodies. Sadly I also don’t have a bathtub at my home or at my students home so I always have to wait until I am at my boyfriends place to try out bath bombs but I finally got a chance to use another one!

What better way to start a new year then with celebrating my love for the brand with an amazing bath bomb?! My bath bomb of choice is the Big Blue and as you may guess, it is BIG and BLUE!

Let’s begin with the scent. This bath bomb just takes me back to a nice day at the beach in summer. It has a very calming and relaxing scent in my opinion. It’s also a very fresh scent, not sweet at all. If you’re not really into sweet scents I would suggest you try this one. I really like sweet scents but liked this one as well.

The Lush website describes this bath bomb like this: “This calming bath bomb evokes a summer’s day at the seaside: perfect for drifting off. Big Blue’s key ingredient is a type of kelp called arame seaweed, which softens in your hot bath water. Arame is rich in vitamins and minerals including iodine, which helps to regulate the metabolism. Sea salt softens the skin, helping to remove dead skin cells, while lemon oil clears the mind and, like lavender oil, is antiseptic and cleansing.”

I know my thoughts on this one are the same as their website description but it’s just because the sea is actually what is smells like, haha!

This bath bomb is also filled with some amazing goodies for your skin. Let’s get into that a bit more.

The first and maybe most special ingredient is the Arame Seaweed. This was actually a bit of a surprise to me. The whole bath bomb was filled with strings of this seaweed. What I didn’t like about it was the fact that they really looked like worms but I could get over that when I was laying in the bathtub and closed my eyes. This ingredient is supposed to soften and detoxify.

The second beneficial ingredient is Fine Sea Salt. This is very good for you and your skin because it’s filled with minerals. It also helps to scrub your skin a bit whilst in the bath.

The third ingredient is Lemon Oil. I definitely feel like you could smell this one coming through a bit at some times. I love it! It is also very good for cleansing your skin and makes you feel like you’re doing a bit of aromatherapy.

The final beneficial ingredient is Lavender Oil. You may already know that lavender is very good for relaxing you. It also calms the skin and the scent makes you feel at ease.

This bath bomb turned my water bright blue and made me super relaxed. After getting out of the tub I could feel my skin had been nourished because it felt so soft. Probably the oils doing their work! I would suggest this bath bomb for anyone who wishes to have a nice, relaxing evening at the seaside. The only ‘negative’ thing is that you might have to clean out the bits of seaweed from your drain to make sure it doesn’t get clogged in there.

I would definitely repurchase this goodie! Let me know in a comment if you ever tried this one out and what your experiences were. What is your favourite Lush bath bomb?

-Jennifer ❤
