A Thank You Or Twenty

Mom,

Thank you for…..

  • Caring for me when I am sick.
  • Sending me to school when I “felt sick” but didn’t have a fever (and for the few times you let me stay home anyway).
  • Always going shell hunting with me at the beach.
  • Reading all of those picture books to me when I was a kid.
  • Comforting me when I cry.
  • Telling me to stop overreacting and calling me on my bullshit.
  • All of the lectures (Yes, you were right. Yes, I should have listened to you in the first place).
  • All of the little pottery boxes you have painted for me over the years.
  • Understanding I didn’t want to be a princess.
  • Sharing your shoes with me.
  • Listening to me go on and on and on about why Joss Whedon should rule the world (But really, he should!)
  • Knowing the PERFECT ratio of peanut butter to jelly on a PB&J.
  • Encouraging me to join your sorority. The Alpha Chi doesn’t fall far from the tree.
  • Sharing your books with me. (“Polka will never die!!!” -Jim Butcher)
  • Telling me what I needed to hear more often than what I wanted to hear.
  • Falling in love with my dork of a Dad. Even though I’m sure part of you thought “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” (hopefully in Han Solo’s voice)
  • Watching Pushing Daisies with me and sparking our obsessive mother daughter show watching (We have some episodes of Supernatural left to catch up on!)
  • Putting up with my teen angst years (and yes, I totally deserved that shoe you threw  at me that one time… but I am glad you missed).
  • Texting me goodnight texts every night when I’m away at school.
  • Supporting and loving me unconditionally.
  • Love you Mom!

Ps. Since I know you would say “I love you More”, I love you most.
