An Essay in Honour of John Major Jenkins: A Rainbow Warrior in Planetary Service John Major Jenkins passed away on the 2nd of July, 2017At present, I would like to honour the memory of prominent American author and Maya scholar, John Major Jenkins, who crossed the great divide on last Sunday, 2nd of July, 2017. It was a day Kin 40, Magnetic Sun, in the Dreamspell Count, and 7 Ix in the Long Count Maya Tzolkin (7 Wizard, Kin 254). He died 53 years old after being diagnosed with cancer around 260 days ago, a number which precisely encodes the Tzolkin and simplifies the Precession of the Equinoxes, which cycle of around 26,000 years Jenkins widely investigated.
For the ones into Maya Astrology, it is also interesting to notice that his Dreamspell day of Ascension, Kin 40, corresponds to the kin of Maya deity GII, the second member of the Palenque Triad, a trinity led by deity GI (9 Ik, Solar Wind). It is also intriguing to realise that Jenkins’ Bardo process of 49 days will be completed on Kin 89, which was the same Ascension kin of Jose Argüelles, Valum Votan, under the wavespell of 19 Storm. Kin 89 is coded as 9.11 (Seal 9, Tone 11) but also as 19.11 (Wavespell 19, Tone 11). Synchronically, the current Dreamspell Year of Kin 219, Spectral Storm, is also coded 19.11 (Seal 19, Tone 11) under the Harmonic 55 of Crystal Cooperation.
John Major Jenkins and Jose Argüelles were lecturers at “2012 Tipping Point” conferences in Vancouver (Canada) and Cancun (Mexico).Even so, Jenkins and Argüelles had different approaches to Maya Cosmology, both of them were considered the main authors of Mayanism who predicted the importance of the date of 21 December 2012. Actually, both published relevant books under the same publishing house, Bear & Company. They also were lecturers in related conferences, such as “2012 Tipping Point: The Prophets Conference” in Cancun (Mexico) and Vancouver (Canada). In the same way, their works were included in the anthology book, “2013: The Beginning is Here”, which compiled wide-ranging views by various authors about the 2012 phenomenon and the new beginning since 2013.
From Mayanism to Sacred Maya Science “Journey to the Mayan Underworld”, first relevant work of John Major Jenkins. (2017 Reviewed Edition)John Major Jenkins incarnated in this dimension on the 4th of March 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He was born a Blue Planetary Eagle, Kin 75, in the Dreamspell Tzolkin and 3 Kib (Kin 16, Electric Warrior) in the Long Count Maya Tzolkin. However, he was mainly a follower of the Traditional Quiché Calendar from the Mayan highlands. He dedicated his last months of life to release more enlighten books about Maya Cosmology, including a 2017 reviewed edition of his first relevant book, “Journey to the Mayan Underworld” (1989).
Likewise, it is feasible to sustain that, more than any other author of Mayanism, Jenkins was a dedicated researcher and a meticulous scholar of Ancient Maya and Mesoamerican Cosmology. His work widely contributed to the dream of a unified Sacred Science, a vision that could help dissolving the duality between the traditional skepticism of Mayanist scholars and the valuable research of spiritual Mayanism.
In the same vein, his death seems to be closing an important chapter of Mayanism, whose main thinkers and activists have also left this dimension during the period of transition to the New Maya Era. The list includes authors such as Tony Shearer, José and Lloydine Argüelles, Hunbatz Men and now Jenkins. And despite the fact that some of their works exhibit human errors and fallacies built on the available knowledge of their times, let us hope that the visionary work of Mayanism carries on evolving so it doesn’t end here.
John Major Jenkins mainly worked to reconstruct lost cosmology of 2012. In the mid-1990s he was the first to identify and publish the alignment of the Ball Court at Izapa with the dawning December Solstice Sun. Before this, Izapa was not associated with 2012. On December 21, around 1,500 people gathered at dawn at Izapa to watch the Galactic Alignment of the New Maya Cycle (Photo by Antoine Pottier)However, the path towards a Maya Sacred Science is not a facile one. In fact, the prolific academic efforts of Jenkins were not fully recognised within the scientific status quo. Nevertheless, the change of Maya Era seems to be bringing new ways of thought. Thus, the logic of the natural evolution of human knowledge implies a needful process of antithesis and synthesis, a kind of metaphorical colander where different postulates of Mayanism could be filtered. That is to say, the corroboration of knowledge through the inclusion of new and reliable information coming from the constant discoveries of key related sciences such as Archeology, Astronomy, Linguistics and Epigraphy, amongst others. Just then, the cultural meanings about Maya Consciousness could possibly evolve after 2012.
This Quantum Shift seems to be utterly necessary in order to dispel some shadows of ignorance and confusion of nowadays, mainly brought by some Maya fantasies and false leading “want to be celebrities” inspired by Mayanism. It is evident that there exist some misleading postulates which are based on old paradigms and out of date information. In other words, it appears to be imperative to develop a cultural synthesis of the 2012 phenomenon towards a true evolution of human consciousness. The key is to understand that this progression is like an organic tapestry which is actually weaved by multiple visionary actors. If the new consciousness path of harmony and cooperation rules, then the initiates might be able to transcend their own masters’ teachings and understand that all players are part of a bigger revelation which leads towards Truth and Unity.
After the 2012 phenomenon, seekers of Maya Wisdom are immensely responsible for what they accept as truth. Equally, it is important for Planetary Kin to also study the Original Maya Codes, in order to bring a revival of the valuable Maya Transmission for the Second Creation of Earth.
May John Major Jenkins be exceptionally remembered and recognised for envisioning and working towards this transformation. I truly believe that a Maya Sacred Science can be scientifically proved, now more than ever…

3 Kib (3 Warrior), Traditional Maya Kin of John Mayor JenkinsExcerpt of Appendix 2. “Shot in the Head: My Past-Life Hypno-Regression”
“In the big sky house the campfire of grandfathers welcomes me and they sit silently staring into the flames. They don’t look up, but their spirits welcome me. They don’t talk, but I hear their thoughts. I am sitting around the fire with them, their ancient faces frozen in sad but wise gazes. The circle of elders. The eternal flame. Warmth. The great lake of life beyond beckons me onward, to another realm. But they gesture for me to stay, to sit for a while, as long as I like. I do. I sit and absorb the peace and wisdom of the ancient fire, melting into a place where I finally feel free and warm. It is a place I am from, and where I belong. Stay, they say. Stay for as long as you like.
I stayed at the Sacred Council Fire for a long time. I learned many things from the Mother-Father spirits. They liked me. Finally, I was given a mission for my next life. So I took off my spirit clothes and went out and down to the world again, to be born again. First I went into the lake of life, all the way in, and I forgot a lot of things about my life. But when I came out I was still awake, I still knew I was me. But I didn’t know my name, or the day. I flew over mountains and lakes, over the earth, at night, to a place where fire ceremony was happening. They prayed and saw me as I came in through the fire — I saw their eyes lighten up. They were Indians of a kind, I could see, but I was really not to be born with them. The fire was distantly warm and I began to feel the sacred spark — I came into life a little through the fire and one of them saw me, my spirit. But then I was called away to the north, over mountains, through the dark-night, into a storm and cold, and was born. I had two brothers and a sister and was called John Major Jenkins. This is my story. And in my new life I forgot everything, but now I remember who I am and why I came.”

John Major Jenkins was a pioneering voice in the evolving 2012 discussion with over twenty years of experience defining and debating the issues. Informed by innovative field work at key archaeological sites and inspired by living and working among the Highland Maya, Jenkins’ comprehensive work covers media misconceptions, assessments of 2012 theories, consciousness studies, Maya shamanism, archaeoastronomical research, Perennial Philosophy, academic misconceptions, and the crisis of sustainability faced in the modern world. His own unprecedented “galactic alignment theory” is now receiving new support from recent discoveries in the Maya inscriptions. While integrating the scientific and spiritual viewpoints, Jenkins honors contemporary Maya calendar tradition and the ancient Maya vision of a unified cosmos.

Since 1995 John has maintained websites dedicated to sharing research and information, mainly about Maya calendrics and cosmology, and the 2012 enigma. The sites have each had a different focus:

By 2009 it was clear that a dedicated site was necessary, to address the misleading media reports on 2012 and john’s work. Much of this emanated from academic critics, where one would expect intelligent and informed discourse to be possible, but unfortunately, professional Maya scholars were largely blinded by an irrational desire to mitigate everything related to 2012 – including my 20 years of research. Here, on Update2012.com, I provide fact-based responses to critics and clarify distorted media reports.

This is the dedicated website for his 2009 book with Tarcher/Penguin, The 2012 Story: The Myths, Fallacies, and Truth Behind the Most Intriguing Date in History. It includes a video interview with my Penguin editor, Mitch Horowitz, endorsements, upcoming events, and a piece he wrote for the media called “Your guide to 2012.”

In 2009 he decided to launch a research think-tank to share the ongoing research notes and essays on the emerging evidence for how the ancient Maya thought about 2012. Much of this revolved around the “2012″ text on Tortuguero Monument 6 and the academic reaction to his presentation at the 75th Meeting of the Society for American Archaeology. He had a growing file of treatments of various Maya inscriptions and decided to simply share the ongoing findings. By the end of 2012 there were over two dozen essays.
