Becoming a mom alongside moms in media

It was kinda cool to go through my pregnancy at the same time as some really amazing, fun, beautiful women in the media, from Beyoncé’s flawless announcement photos, to Ciara’s “I’m every woman” dance performance, to Serena winning her 23rd grand slam at the Australian Open. They carried so flawlessly, really had that mommy glow everyone talks about. They had me believing I could do anything and still look great doing it while pregnant.

       

       

But who I really identified with was Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) in the show blackish. Though this wasn’t real life, her experiences of being pregnant, welcoming the new life, and then the most recent episode with her return to work, really connected with me.
