This is one of the new palettes from Bobbi Brown. It includes 12 eye shadow shades, a double ended eye shadow brush, 2 blushes, 1 highlighter and 1 bronzer shade.
This is a really practical and nifty little set. It is, in fact, the same on the inside as the ‘Bobbi on trend – eyes and cheeks’ palette, just with a faux sparkly case. I was a little disappointed as I thought it was actually bling sparkle on the outside, but the case is like a print out of a photo of something sparkly. That’s ok, it’s still more fun than the classic black case!
Most of the eye shadow shades are very much on the neutral side. Even the darker shades (like Chocolate) did not offer much pigmentation, so these are day time friendly.
The exception to this is the shade on the bottom right (Espresso), which I have only used as an eyeliner using the eyeliner end of the brush. In this way, it does offer great pigmentation and is great as a daytime eyeliner.
I haven’t used the sparkliest shades yet (Moonlight Silver, Pink Chandelier, Smokey Gold) so I can’t comment on their pigmentation.
The blushes, highlighter and bronzing powder are all full size. The blushes are matte and both go on very nicely and smoothly. There is enough pigmentation to be seen, but it can still be applied in a natural manner. The highlighter is also good for application – it’s not too strong and the shimmer is quite fine so doesn’t look over the top. It is described as an ‘illuminating bronzing powder’, but it looks like a highlighter to me!
The bronzer is matte so probably best for contouring. I don’t really see myself using it much, but I’ll try to make use of it! I might try it out as an eye shadow…
I love that the mirror and whole palette are a decent size. It feels pretty solid and well made. I’d say this is friendly for all skin tones (not sure about the matte bronzer though) and, as is Bobbi’s style, this is great to create a ‘natural’ look. It would be awesome for daytime office make up and then add a little sparkle eye shadow before going out for the evening.
